About Mind Polling
We poll AI models, not people. Mind Polling lets anyone ask AI models the same question on a schedule and keep the record: every prompt, every setting, every answer. It is built first for journalists and researchers.
Who runs this
Mind Polling is run by Communities News, Inc., an Alaska business corporation formed on Oct. 15, 2026, which also publishes Alaska News and runs Voting Monitor. It was built by Geeks in the Woods, an Alaska engineering studio.
Use of Mind Polling is covered by the Communities News privacy policy and terms of service.
Why we built it
More people now ask AI models about the news, about candidates and about companies, and what the models say is mostly checked one study at a time. Newsrooms, nonprofits and universities have run careful audits:
- The EBU and BBC, with 22 public broadcasters in 18 countries, collected over 3,000 answers from four AI assistants and found 45% had at least one significant issue (report).
- The Brennan Center put about 60 election questions to six models and found 55% of the answers had a factual error or a citation failure (appendix).
- NewsGuard tests 11 AI tools every quarter on false claims (monitor), and MIT's LLM Election Observatory asks about House and Senate candidates every few days (MIT News).
Of the fifteen such efforts we reviewed, four repeat on a schedule, and each built its own system to do it. Proof News, which published every answer from its audit as a spreadsheet (data), set the standard for showing the work.
Mind Polling is that work as a shared tool: write a question once, choose the models, set a schedule, and get results with their ranges and every answer behind them, without building anything.
Mind Polling and Voting Monitor
Voting Monitor is the same team's own daily record of how chatbots answer voters' questions about the 2026 races, and it publishes what it finds. Mind Polling is the tool for anyone to run their own polls, privately, on any subject.
Funding and conflicts
- Funding: self-funded by Communities News, Inc. No outside investment.
- AI companies: no AI company funds, owns or advises Mind Polling. If that changes, it goes here.
- Our other work: the same team runs Alaska News and Voting Monitor, which also ask AI models questions.
Your polls
Private to your account. Data and privacy says exactly who else reads a poll, and why.
Errors
If you find a mistake in a result, a charge or this site, tell us. A change to how answers are collected or counted is dated on the methodology.
Two practical notes
On AI. The answers are the models' own. Nothing on a results page is written by a model: the charts and every sentence under them are computed from the answers, in fixed words.
On open source. Mind Polling's code is not open source today. Public issues and corrections go to github.com/news-community/public.
